In spite of the constant pain outlined below, I spent last weekend enjoying life to the full. Zooty and I attended a private warehouse party, with the theme of ‘Fishbowl Carnival’. A lot of people took this theme and ran with it, to create a visually spectacular night, as you can see from these ‘photos;

Myself and Lady Zooty, in homemade diver’s helmet and tentacle dress respectively.
I used to get pleasure from going to these sorts of events and dancing (well, wobbling whilst leaning on a walking stick) in the middle of my tribe, but since my transformation into everybody’s favourite cripple, I have had to fundamentally change my behaviour, and find satisfaction in sitting on a sofa and socialising with a wide sampling of the party goers. While the party danced around me, to the tunes of some very good DJs, I had many interesting and entertaining conversations, yelled over the music.
It probably helped that I was hypothetically accompanied to the party by my good friend ‘Lucy’, and most of the people I met there were helped to relax, enjoy, and truly experience the event with the aid of ‘Lucy’s’ chemical cousins (if you are interested in my opinion of the chemical enhancement of human consciousness, you might want to check out this recent article by Suzanne Moore;
Ms Moore and I don’t agree on every subject, but on this we are of one mind).
I met loads of great people, many of whom I hope to meet again. We all had a good time, and nobody caused any trouble (to the best of my knowledge). The party was at night, in a warehouse, on an industrial estate, so there were no neighbours to annoy. As far as I’m concerned everything about the night was positive, and no harm was done, so it is a mystery to me why ‘the powers that be’ disapprove of such events. Apart from the tendency for such parties to bring people together, at a time when the government is trying to divide and rule us.
I truly believe social events such as Fishbowl Carnival are not trivial or shallow, but an essential part of life. Even though I was in pain every moment of the party, I found the pain easier to cope with and ignore, because of the interesting company I was keeping. I am even prepared the claim that parties are good for my health.
There is a downside, naturally, which in my case is days of bedrest, while I wait for the pain to come down to a bearable level again. This is a price I believe is well worth paying, for new friends and happy memories. I would like to thank everyone involved in the creation of such a wonderful time in my life, and look forward to sharing many more such moments in the future.
Soon, when the pain reduces, and I am comfortable enough to concentrate, I will be transferring this blog to its new permanent home on my website @ bigmonkeycult.com. Please watch this space for details.
Love & peace,
